About

Founded in Auckland in 1976, we are a privately owned family business. Today, we employ close to 115 staff and have branches across Australia and New Zealand.

Our commitment to delivering only the highest quality products and service means we are always looking for ways to improve and grow as a business

We've always been big on really listening to our customers and their unique set of needs and then providing the best possible solution for them.

We recycle everything we can and have done since 1976. Because it's the little things (like how we use motion activated lighting) combined with the big things (like how we recycle all of our waste) that can make a real difference.

Certification

Caring for Our Environment

Candida’s management system is certified to ISO 9001 2015. We choose suppliers who have ISO 9001:2000 levels of Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 levels of Environmental Management Systems.

Candida holds two Chain of Custody certifications for responsible paper use, PEFC & FSC®. This means we can trace the paper in our envelopes back to source, thus ensuring that the forests used are being managed ethically and responsibly.

More information on PEFC and FSC® is available at their respective websites.

Plastic-Free, Fully Recyclable Envelopes – Now with Glassine Windows

Candida is proud to now offer envelopes made with Glassine, a transparent paper window that makes our envelopes 100% paper-based - so there’s no need for separation before recycling.

Our Glassine window panels have been tested and approved by Australia Post, who confirmed that addressing information remains clear, legible, and easy to sort throughout the mailing process.

When paired with PEFC certified or 100% white recycled paper, our envelopes are completely plastic-free, fully recyclable, and biodegradable - delivering a more sustainable mailing solution from start to finish.

  • Candida's Paper Sourcing Policy was developed to ensure that all paper purchasing by Candida adheres to the sustainability practices laid out by CoC Certifications

    • Sustainably sourced or recycled

    • Sourced from legally harvested forests

    • A minimum ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) or equivalent for any bleaching process

    • Commercially viable.

Paper from unknown or controversial sources will not be used.

We are committed to the PEFC values & the requirements of the PEFC standards. As such Candida has implemented the PEFC Due Diligence System to manage and prevent use of sources or practices at odds with PEFC Values such as Conflict Timber and Controversial Sources including:

    • Non compliance with local, national, and international legislation

    • Conversion of forest to other uses

We support transaction verification by our certification body or by Accreditation Services International

(ASI) by supplying transaction data upon request. These verifications provide evidence of certificate holders honest operations i.e. that output claims made by certificate holders are accurate and match with the input claims of their trading partners.

In establishing new suppliers or products from an existing supplier, Candida’s senior management satisfy themselves of the requirements above.

Preference will be given to those papers that can be shown to have been produced sustainably as evidenced by a credible chain of custody process (e.g.PEFC, AS 4707, SFI).

Evidence required to be provided by Candida’s key suppliers includes clear documentation supporting a full chain of custody claim.

Candida carries out annual surveys of its major suppliers seeking confirmation that previous declarations and chain of custody statements are still current and relevant.

Candida conducts annual internal reviews of its chain of custody record keeping, processes, and sourcing procedures for all certifications that we currently hold.

  • Mailhouse Guidelines

Cut your mailing costs by choosing the right envelope.
You can save thousands of dollars simply by using an envelope suited to mailhouse equipment. Makes sense, doesn’t it?

Our envelopes are designed for use through high-speed Inserting machines, meaning a higher throughput for optimizing production timeframes and meeting critical deadlines.

Before you order envelopes for mailhouse use, check first if the mailhouse is using hand or mechanical insertion. For mechanical insertion, envelopes must be tropical seal (we even have a choice of outside or inside side-seams).

    Window Position

Standard window positions on our stock range cater for most business needs. However, windows can be positioned in a variety of places, vary in size, shape and number, and be on one side of an envelope or both. Talk to us about your special requirements.

    Storage

Envelopes are best stored in a cool, dry, ventilated place. This is especially important for self seal envelopes as the glue is sensitive to light and open air conditions. Store in a sealed box to protect from dust and light (in the outer carton where possible).

Klaus Girardet arrived in New Zealand from Germany with his wife Dagmar and their three daughters. Prior to his arrival, Klaus worked in the printing industry in Europe and the US. His family newspaper was the first in Germany to use a computer within the business for typesetting advertising, distribution and editorial purposes.

Klaus and Dagmar started Candida from their home (initially to produce high quality calendars). Klaus chose the name 'Candida' after the classic newspaper printing typeface. The name is derived from the Latin word 'candid' meaning white, bright and frank.
