The business was founded by Klaus and Dagmar Girardet who moved to this region to explore business opportunities and raise their family. Klaus had an extensive background in the newspaper industry in Europe - so it was only natural that he should choose Candida as the name for the business. The word Candida, while being one of the oldest typefaces used in newspapers around the world, is derived from the Latin word candid, meaning white, bright and frank.
